The Trance of Thoughts series explores how the human mind continuously repeats and embellishes personal narratives. These mental loops happen while awake or dreaming. Being caught up in this internal moment-to-moment mind stream of daily pressures, judgements, assumptions, challenges, relationships, political urgencies, fear of diseases, pursuit of pleasures, and myriad feelings makes clarity of thought difficult. Yet, constant change is the human condition. The mind spins out thoughts, emotions, stories, likes, dislikes, plans, regrets and reactions. There is unrelenting movement, filled with words, ideas, images, and memories.
Trance of Thoughts are large scale digital art photographs. Their making involves many layers of images and software applications. The resulting density of imagery reflects how I experience my mind set. It appears in fragmented non-linear waves of information, ideas, and images in full color.
When the photographs are printed, they measure 51 inches by 66 inches, up to 66 inches by 88 inches. Each photograph includes a white grid, indicating the photograph is designed to be printed and presented in sections measuring 17 inches by 22 inches.
